OFFICIAL STATEMENT
June 29, 2026
In light of recent fire events in the state, as well as the water crisis we are in, and in consideration of the statement issued by Governor Cox concerning the use of personal fireworks, the Mendon City Mayor, Mendon City Council, and Mendon City Fire Chief announce the prohibition of the use of personal fireworks within the city limits of Mendon until further notice. Please note that Petersboro, Cobblestone, and all surrounding areas of Mendon are under the jurisdiction of Cache County, which has banned all use of personal fireworks as well.
The professional fireworks show scheduled for July 25 on the Mendon City square, in conjunction with the Pioneer Day celebration, will go on as planned, under the watchful eye of the city fire department. This is within the guidelines of the governor’s statement.
Our hope is that Mendon City residents will abide by this statement. It is understood that this will cause a loss of momentary satisfaction among the community. However, given the circumstances we are under, it is also hoped that families can find other ways to enjoy celebrating our country and our state without risking personal and community damage.
We appreciate your understanding and compliance with this statement and wish you all a happy and safe summer season.
Mendon City Mayor, Council, and Fire Chief
